Irene Marzo is an award-winning oil on canvas artist from Spain who's exhibited in Madrid and London. Her art offers a window into intimate moments filled of transient emotion.

From the artist:

“In this painting I wanted to explore the ways of relating to each other that make us feel lighter, that we must aim to protect and care these relationships, give them the space that they need. The poet Alejandro Zambra expresses this type of feeling through happiness: “nunca sentir que sería mejor en otra parte, nunca sentir que sería mejor ser alguien más*.

In this piece I represent it through an embrace, a tender and safe hold. The brushstrokes move quickly across the canvas, sometimes becoming air-form, giving the composition a sense of lightness.

*never feeling that it would be better elsewhere, never feeling that it would be better to be someone else”.
