Big Memory in Blue by Elisa Gana

$8,000.00

Textile cyanotype over cotton.

This is original artwork, there is only one.

Featuring an unknown mid-century American woman standing in front of a car.

Cyanotype photography is a camera-less technique that involves laying an object on paper coated with a solution of iron salts before exposing it to UV light and washing with water to create white and cyan blue images.

Elisa Gana is an artist born in Miami with a BFA from Finis Terrae University of Chile. Her artistic focus is in intaglio recording and printmaking, with cyanotype being her preferred practice. She is a member of “Taller 99” founded by Nemesio Antúñez, and a pioneer in experimental printmaking. An avid collector of historical archival photography, her body of work is a reflection on memory, loss, and the accidental nature of time.

Given that the cyanotype technique is highly volatile and dependent on light, it is of significance that this piece was produced under Chilean sunshine in the artist’s backyard during 2023.

Comes unframed in a roll, easy to ship.

We offer free US shipping.
